Xbox 360 Premium Gets HDMI |

It’s now been confirmed that all future Xbox 360 Premium units will come complete with HDMI slot – not just the (soon to be released in the UK) 'Elite' consoles. The Core package will not receive the upgraded HDMI port and speculation is rife as to just how long the Core system will remain on sale.
Speaking to Gamespot, a Microsoft representative stated “Yes, we are offering an HDMI port for Xbox 360 simply as another choice in Xbox 360 owners' games and entertainment experience. Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand.” What the representative wouldn’t confirm is the rumour that these HDMI equipped consoles would be packed with the cooler 65nm chips. Sadly, they simply uttered the same old rubbish. “We are constantly updating the console's more than 1,700 internal components and therefore will not comment on details of specific components or manufacturing processes.”

I could give a rat's ass at this point about HDMI - it's only good for 1080p compatible TVs and the type of HDMI on the Xbox is older and not as good. I just want the smaller chip dangit! I need the HDMI for proper upconversion so I've only got one lead going to my PJ. At the moment, I can't find any amp that does component 720p60 properly. |
