Elite Has Landed!

*Beep* "Houston, this is Tranquility base, the 360 Elite has landed" *Beep*

Yes folks August 24th rolls around and the shops are full of sleek, black, HDMI equipped, 120 gig hard drive hung, Xbox leviathans. The long overdue Elite has arrived in a shop near you replete with its £299.99 price tag. Will you be rushing to grab a slice of the action or is it really just a sheep in wolfs clothing?! If you're one of the many people upgrading an original Xbox Premium and offloading a trade-in at your local GAME store (£140 is the best you'll get) then you might be wondering how to transfer all your precious game-saves and data from your old drive to the new.

If you've only purchased the separate 120 gig drive then you're in luck as Microsoft has included the necessary transfer cable and disc in the package. Alas if you're the owner of a new Elite console you'll need to contact the support desk over here at Microsoft and order up the transfer kit for delivery by post. There's no charge for the kit, simply locate your serial number on the rear of your console and fill it in along with all your details. Once you've got the kit it's a simple matter of hooking them both up and letting the software work its magic. Remember though that this will be a one-time procedure and it will clear off any data not present on the 120 gig drive when it was first used. Likewise after it’s finished you will have a barren 20 gig drive which can be disposed of on eBay to some lesser ‘Core’ owner for a few quid. So, how many people will be fighting through the long queues to nab one of these new machines today? Has anyone been camping outside their local store overnight? I’m guessing maybe not……

I had no intention of upgrading to this machine, but they're charging 7 quid if i trade in my (starting to age) 360 and 5 games.. any games, just not PGR3, PDZ, GRAW and Fifa 06..

so i should get one soon
